Summer Lovin’
Just hearing that phrase, Summer Lovin’, and I’m back in the days of my youth. Life was good, sweet even way back when. And summer, ahhhh, well summertime was the absolute best!

Whenever I smell that distinctive aroma that can only be suntan lotion, I’m immediately transported to the beach where the water was always cold, the sand burning, and the guys smokin’ hot.

Those were the days . . .  the hot sun beating down on my friends and me as we lay on the beach towel slathered in lotion, the radio rocking the summer music, and me with a paperback romance in my hand (which I actually did read while checking out the buff guys strutting their stuff along the water’s edge).

I like my romance stories to challenge me, make my brain “sit up and take notice” and have to work at anticipating where the story is going. So, it shouldn’t surprise you when I reveal that I like to read romantic suspense, which not so coincidentally is what I like to write. I love the mystery of trying to figure out just where the plot is going to take me and I revel in the twists and turns that some authors write. And rest assured that I love to take my readers on an adventure and sweep them into another world.

My debut novel Trove, the first of The Katie Walsh Mysteries does just that. Starting in Boston, then jetting across the Atlantic to the Isle of Skye, with a brief stop in the West Country area of England, Trove will entertain you with an adventure that challenges long held legends and treats the reader to a complicated romance between Katie Walsh, an investigative mythologist, and Alec MacGowan, an archaeologist.

This was an enjoyable story with just the right mix of mystery, murder and romance. I loved the chemistry between Alec MacGowan and Katie Walsh and I really wanted them to be together. I also loved how it spanned between Boston and Scotland. I enjoy reading mysteries and I especially have a soft spot for stories that take place in Scotland, so I found this to be the perfect mix for me to really sit back and lose myself in. Ms. Montgomery provided me with plenty of twists and turns in her storyline to keep me riveted to my seat and she sprinkled it with a budding romance between Alec and Katie to make my heart swoon. I enjoyed this book so much that I found myself burning through the pages to see what was going to happen next. If you’re in the market for a book that contains intrigue, mystery, romance and murder, than look no further. Nicely done, Ms. Montgomery!  -- Diana Coyle, Night Owl Reviews

Alec MacGowan, a handsome and sexy archaeologist, is in search of finding the person who murdered his friend. He’ll stop at nothing to find the killer. Katie Walsh, a beautiful mythologist in search of Norland, lends a hand to Alec to see if she can assist him in finding out who killed his friend. These two have a past together and working with each other seems to have reignited the sparks that burn between them. Are Alec and Katie able to find out who the killer is before he strikes again – this time making one of them the victim?

Excerpt from Trove

Katie looked so lost sitting on the edge of the bed with her head bent forward. Alec was surprised how quickly she’d responded to him, surrendered herself. He was a fool for letting it go too far. He put her reputation at risk, but he couldn’t stop himself. For five years he’d thought of her, kicking himself for agreeing to her no-names rule. Five frigging years of missing her, her touch, her scent, and now he’d probably screwed it up big time. His plan was simple. Get the job and get the runes translated. Once he had them, he planned on leaving. Then he’d bring the murderer out in the open. It should’ve worked. Yet since the moment he’d seen her at the conference, the plan had taken on a life of its own. He still needed the translation, and he still needed to leave, but he didn’t want to now. She was back in his life, not exactly like he wanted, but she was here. Only now, he felt like he’d hung a flashing neon sign over her head. She didn’t deserve this, didn’t ask to be used the way he was manipulating her. Robert was right. She deserved to be told the truth, deserved to make the decision to help him, not be forced because he was her boss. Like it or not, the stakes had risen.
